Chalk_talk vs. Click_screen

Wow! Lab task for today is super duper interesting. How you gonna manipulate videos or any electronic entertainment as realia in your class? That's the clueless question that kept be discussed among my brain cells. Neuron linkage. How about cell phones? How you gonna use it as an education media in class? What? Answer me. My brain work harder try to digest every single word of the question and process every little information for further answer. Then my brain suggested that, "Why don't you try to ask your students-wanna-be to snap their own picture or even any beautiful scenery around them? Then, ask them to describe briefly about the pictures they snapped. It's better if they are able to make up a short story from it. Trigger their creativity and critical thinking. See?" Thanks my brain for giving out that good idea.

For lab task, we need to work in a group of three to four and my teammates are Fatin and Aida. We were asked to search for any interesting video and manipulate it to be used as realia in class. Oh my God! They have so many ideas. Then, together we came out with an idea to propose this interesting Brain Divided video as our realia. Here's the URL link. Click and check it out!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuyB7NO0EYY

Then, we suggest to manipulate this short video in an interesting way in order to cater the educational need. Read and follow the steps written:
1. Play the video twice.
2. Ask students to list most of action verbs and adjectives they viewed from the video.
3. Write an essay of ethics in a date and their options in thinking properly during the first date. State their reasons why should they say so.

I do really think that electronic medium for instance, videos or songs are absolutely such a wise option for teachers to make their lesson more interesting so that students' attention can be attracted and won't be distracted. Everything is just about technology today and that's why technology oriented learning is able to be implemented in school.

Alhamdulillah! Praise be to Allah SWT. At last, I managed to complete this hot potatoes activities. Special gratitude to my lecturer and my friends for supporting me to keep trying completing this task. Yup, I truly admit that at first I quite reluctant to do these activities but when I thought deeply how beneficial it is, I tried to complete it.

http://hotpot.uvic.ca/#downloads From this link, downloading the hot potatoes software is a must. From the software, we need to create 5 different activities: (1) JMix; (2) JMatch; (3) JCloze; (4) JCross and (5) JQuiz. Those are the activities I've created.

From my point of view, this activities is absolutely suitable for teachers to come out with their own activities.

Madu_Racun??

Hard task to be adopted today. Poison or honey? Which I one do I need to choose. Ya, if I wrongly chose poison, I'm gonna die. If I pick up honey, do I gonna live forever? Hardship in making decisions. In Surah al-Insyirah: verses 5 and 6; Allah ever said that: "So indeed with hardship is ease", then He repeated that verse again. Thus, in hardship of making desicion, hope Allah gonna ease me by choosing the right one.

In previous lab activity, we; the whole class were introduced to this website of www.zapdramatic.com/dramas.htm. The first thing that mingle around my thinking neuron cells in this big brain is do I have to act in a role-play based on the script of the zapdramatic website? Then, when we were explained well, now I know what exactly the task is. Decision-making skills! Then, I got stars and moon in my head as I'm not really skillful in making decision. Tough moment in my life.

From the website, we were given three trial conflict situations that we need to make a decision based on the situations. Wrong decision you made, you gonna die physically or emotionally. Right decision you made, your safety ensured. Three critical situations I thought. The first and second situation is how you gonna save the day from lunatic bomber who wanna has his kids back. The third situation is quite suitable for students since the situation is based on student life at school. How he gonna manage his time well between athletics and academic performance. Ethics as students and what not.

This website is actually good for cultivating decision-making skills in negotiation, ability to make tough decisions by implying critical thinking skills which also promotes ethics and moral values. Besides, this website also enhance students' skills of listening, speaking and be rationalize in making decisions. Zapdramatic website is suitable only for adults depends on the situation given. From my observation of the dramas provided, the situations are mostly about problems happened between married couple that engaged in critical situations such as scandal or flirting, sexual issues, divorce and violence of suicide attempt. Besides, there are too many vulgar words spoke out for instance, son of a bitch and fucking. This is not our eastern culture in Malaysia that already cultivated with Islamic values. That's why this website is only suitable for someone who really sincerely wanna know how to make decisions whenever encounters critical situations regardless what the situations are.

Krusty Krab Fiesta! Nothing sold on that fiesta. Everything was free. On a hot sunny day, SpongeBob Squarepants was walking with Patrick Star heading to Krusty Krab. In their mind, they kept thinking of the exotic taste of Krabby Patty. On their way to Krusty Krab, they met Squidward Tentacles who kept munching the Krabby Patty along the way. He said nothing, nodded his head and slipped away.

They felt like they were walking in a quicksand, not moving and the Krusty Krab still far ahead. They were sweating like they were baked in a hot oven up to the boiling point. They ran like crazy like they were chasing world record beating the Usain Bolt. Their heart were pounding fast, their stomach were beating them hard. All of sudden, SpongeBob stopped his move. Patrick Star wondered, why? He was hungry as if he ate nothing since he was in his mother’s belly.

SpongeBob stood dumbfounded in a thin air. His sparkled eyes could ever make Patrick got blind. His heart was beating him to the bottom and Patrick could even hear that sound from his heart.  He got sweat and out of reasons, he smiled sweetly like he was pictured in a portrait by the Squidward. Patrick then turned around searched for creatures that could ever make SpongeBob stopped his speed run. Guess what, he saw Sandy Cheeks from far! That nuts Texas squirrel who only knows munching on nuts for all the time and since that she turned to be nuts.

Patrick whispered to his friend, SpongeBob. “Are you nuts? You gonna eat nuts for the rest of your life! No more Krabby Patty as I know the new secret recipe of Krabby Patty and you know, today, Mr. Krab gonna launch a new recipe for his patty. Squirrel meat patty! “

“I was the inventor. I think let’s eat her and keep her close to your heart forever. Don’t you think that is a better idea than staring her like that?  You got nothing, pal. Just a thin air”. SpongeBob was clueless, what on earth his Patrick was mumbling about.

For the first time in my life I encounter and explore the website of FanFiction.net. This website is absolutely interesting and I do really enjoy read all the fictions created by fans of certain categories for instance; (1)anime/manga, (2)cartoons, (3)music, (4)books, (5)movies, (6)plays/musicals, (7)comics, (8)TV shows and (9)games. I did browse for the categories of movies, anime/manga and cartoons as we were asked to read any fans' fiction that we do really attracted to. I do like cartoons, anime/manga and animation movies so, that's the reason why I elected those categories of entertainment. For cartoons, I searched for SpongeBob Squarepants, for anime/manga, I browsed for One Piece and for movies, I chose Wreck-It Ralph. Then, once we done read the fans' fiction that we like, we were asked to give a comment based on the fans' fiction that we did really think so interesting and creativity had pictured in that made-up story. During my fans' fiction browsing activity, I encountered this sad story of dying SpongeBob in loneliness and I think this fiction is so interesting. So, I did leave my comment and suggestion so that she can write better and come out with a super interesting fiction. Here, I provide the URL link of the fiction and my review upon it.

  1. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9778304/1/THE-END
  2. http://www.fanfiction.net/r/9778304/

"I quite enjoyed read your make-up fiction of dying SpongeBob. But yours is totally dull and no heart-tearing descriptive conflict to reach the climax. When I made to the last word I feel no pity towards SpongeBob. However, you still have a good effort and creativity in make-up that sadness in SpongeBob' character who finally encounters death. Just few of us gonna think like that as we wonder that SpongeBob kinda happy-go-lucky and outgoing guy and we might think he gonna die in happiness. But you split that myth as in for me, and visualize his death in words with sorrowful and loneliness. Good job!"

Actually, I really think that this kind of activity is able to trigger students' creativity in creating a narrative fiction based on their twisted thinking towards the original version of plot of the story they elected. They can write as many fictions as they want to and receive feedback through the reviews or comments given by the readers or followers. Besides of fiction, they are also encouraged to write any kind of academic writings or facts based on the categories they feel attracted to. This in-class activity is surely be able to enhance students' creativity in narrative writing essay and enriching their ideas to write fictions.

Link tapak_Cari watak

That Friday class was a mix up class; combination of Tuesday lab session and Wednesday lab session. A lot of troubles came to surface. The air-conditioner did not work well and the internet connection as well. Only a few of us managed to penetrate the internet connection included me. From my side the reason remained unknown why. Oh, what a day! Then, we asked to form a group and search the website of WebQuest via the link webquest.org. Exploration did goes well and then, an activity we asked to complete was about defining character, identifying characters attribution and assessing the characters of anonymous person elected. We did this activity trough the Microsoft Word in class and submitted it to Dr. Burn's email.

This website is absolutely created for teachers and already proven that "tens of thousands of teachers have embraced WebQuests as a way to make good use of the internet while engaging their students in the kinds of thinking that the 21st century requires. The model has spread around the world with special enthusiasm in Brazil. Spain, China, Australia and Holland". (WebQuest.Org: Home). WebQuest is seemingly only for teachers as teaching aid in searching content for teaching in class. There are a lot of activities and teaching contents provided for teachers to ease them. However, the appearance of this website is  complex and uneasy to be used for the first time. A lot of time need to be taken to explore this website deeper as it is so functionable for teachers. But still, this website is totally useful for teachers even it is not so interesting from the first view.

Mood Swing_Koyak rabak vs. Kain perca

Wow! Today, I walk to class with a big question mark crossed my mind. Previously, I've been informed that my lab session will gonna be interesting as Dr. Burn wanna do something different. Two activities gonna be held in 2 hours. Last week, there was just one activity done. So, I'm wondering what that activities are all about? Then, luckily also, he still not around. That mean, I wasn't so late entering the class, turned on the computer and what not. When he walked in, I was playing game from the BrainPOP ESL website. Then, he briefly told us about the activity I was wondering before. Enlighten me!

As been told, I searched the website he wanted us to looked up for; http://www.amnesty.ca. Once I found, wow! There are a lot of worldwide issues covered in the website of the Amnesty Organization. I was amazed as I really love current issues that cover around the globe. Once we done exploring the website, I had been ordered to find an issue that need to be focused on and voiced out my message. Then, I found to choose the issue of Stolen Sisters that occurred in Canada among the Indigenous women. This issue is mostly about the racism and sexism within the society itself. This activity is quite interesting actually but at the same time it created so much intense in most of hearts in that class as the issues debated are in reality and serious. From my point of view, this kinda activity is not so appropriate for primary students or even worse kindergarten kids.It is more suitable for secondary school students maybe or university students and also adults. But still, this activity is informative actually.

Around 11.30 a.m, we stopped. Then, we moved to second activity that was promised to be much more interesting. Writing Relay or Chained Writing. This activity is actually triggered my writing skill and my creativity that I thought was about to be expired maybe as never been polished. We were given four different unfinished stories. In a group of three, we need to choose one story and continue the story. Then, we asked to email that story to the next friend and so on. I chose the topic about genie thing and passed it to my next friend so she could continue my story. Then, I received my friend's story about a man who ran away after found a picture. I wrote the next paragraph but need to ensure that the main character won't encounter death. I wrote as creative I could be and as as nonsense that story could be set. I thought that this activity is super duper interesting and so appropriate to be applied in class with numerous categories of students. Try it out!

Medan_Graviti minda berputar

What comes to your mind when this web "http://www.quia.com/web" appear in your screen monitor? You must be wonder, right? O God, what on earth this website actually is? Can someone explain? Then, if that so, why don't you just click on it?

At a glances, I click on the URL link. Come on! Follow me! Then you gonna discover too many interesting stuffs included in this website. Numerous of activities included jumbled words, hangman, puzzles, flashcards, rags to riches and yeah, what else? There are too many activities to be listed properly.
 #Laugh out Loud#

Besides, you also gonna find that this website isn't only for English or ESL but also other subjects. For instance, Science, Chemical, Literature, Foreign Language and yet also too many categories to be listed. If I list all those categories, one page of this blog post might not be enough. Try to discover it on your own!
#Laugh out Loud# - again?

I absolutely hard to find any of the disadvantages of this useful website. I think this created website is quite perfect in it own way. It's so appropriate for various age groups either you're the primary or secondary students. Even the university students may find it interesting and challenging as not all activities can be answered correctly. Seriously! Then, as a future teacher or properly I dubbed as 'educator', I have to assign to the Quia account and come out with my own activity according to the sample done. Don't you think it's interesting? So, I created the jumbled words spelling bee. O God! Once it's done, I try to answer my own activity. MY OWN ACTIVITY! Can you imagine that? But, guess what? I even can't answer all the jumbled words correctly. Shame on me. So, here's the link. Try it out!
http://www.quia.com/jw/474462.html?AP_rand=411549623

From my observation as if I'm a scientist and a professor wanna be, I think this Quia website is more interesting than the Neko & Brian website. Much more interesting. The Neko & Brian website is quite more childish but not the Quia website. It's suitable for most of age groups. That's why I really think that the website is super duper interesting.

I know someone created the activities in the website. Then try to be patient with it if you have no winning experience at all on most of activities. Try again next time and keep learning people :)

Bahasa_Jarum peniti

Once I heard of the website addressed www.neko.ca I felt quite interested. What kind of website is it? Is it really interesting and useful to be used as an aid for students to learn English? From his explanation, yeah! I mean Dr. Burn this website is cool enough to be used as a teaching tool for English teachers.

What www.neko.ca really is? Teaching aid for Canadian teachers to teach Japanese students? Yes, I think that is the right answer! From what I've been told. Once I explored it, there were so many items included that caught my attention. Brian and Neko's Place: Study English is an English fun teaching aid that full of excitement! With the games, quizzes, puzzles and activities.

It is so good to know students nowadays are exposed to a lot of functional teaching rather than the traditional way of pedagogy especially in English. As far as I know that this website is created for Japanese students who eager to learn English in Canada and I think it's good for both students and English teachers. This website also suitable for either primary schools or secondary schools and even kids. It provides a lot of grammar sections with interesting activities, games, quizzes and puzzles. For example, The Messy Room activity.

But unfortunately, this website is quite cultural specific, what I mean here is, it is exclusively for western students. There are a few of that specifically for them and not so appropriate for Malaysian students. For instance, games of the Halloween, hmm..if I'm not mistaken. We are not celebrating Halloween, right? Besides, in that Halloween sections, there are The Haunted House section which is not suitable for kids. Are we trying to frighten them of the ghosts or trying to teach them? How if, all of sudden, your student screams out of reason due to the activities? Just think of it for a second.

However, it is still a relevant website to be used in class teaching grammar and set of rules in English language. The teacher ought to be wised in deciding which part ought to be adapted and adopted to teach the second language learners. Wiser choices produce perfect outcomes.

Baju kurung_Kain perca

Assalamualaikum viewers!

The real name given is Siti Asiah binti Muhamad Subri. Most people called me Asiah. Just simple as that, no addition and what so ever! Do you know PUSRAWI Kuala Lumpur? I guess you know. On Monday of 21st September 1992, if I'm not mistaken, at 2.00 p.m I think, I was given birth.

Hmm...I don't wanna talk so much 'bout me. Yeah! Wait, wait! I guess you wanna know something more 'bout me, right? Okay, let me tell you a lil' bit of my interests. I wish that I can ride on a classic Vespa and drive a classic Mini Cooper or the vintage Volkswagen Beetle. Urgh! It's so hard to find one unless the replica that once I saw at Jonker Walk, Malacca with price tag on it, RM 30.00. That's my dream. I quite love to watch football and of course the EPL games, cheering for Liverpool team. Does it weird to see a sweet girl #(laugh out loud) like me walking or even running in baju kurung with my feet put on Converse? Hmm..maybe yes, maybe not.

My life lesson started when I was 4 to 6 years old at an Islamic kindergarten in Kulim, Kedah. I learned so many things that introduced me to Allah and guided my life to Islam. Recited Quran and daily Do'a, perform solah and basic things. I met friends, yup even not so close that you can referred as best friend forever. Then I went to SK Kulim from standard 1 to standard 3 and in the early year of 2001, March I think, I moved out to SK Lubuk Kawah, Lenggong Perak. What on earth the school's name is? So freakishly weird. The first time I heard the name, I thought that if I registered to that school I might be boiled in a big pot of hot water and soup made from my flesh plus with blood. Urgh! Gross! I sat for my UPSR in 2004 there and praised be to Allah, I passed with flying colors.

I then went to SMK Sultan Azlan Shah, waiting an offer to MJSC Transkrian in Penang. Once I got the offer, I packed my stuffs and registered at that school. But my life as student there didn't last longer. My parents made up their mind to take me out and sent me to MJSC Gerik Perak. Nearer to my hometown in Baling. I quite disagreed because I started to have friends. I rebelled. I did so many things to attract my parents' attention and told them via my behavior that I really hate that school. I skipped class, lied to teachers, refused to send the homework given and bla..bla..bla... Consequently, my achievement in exams dropped! Since that, my parents took me out from the school and registered me to SMK Syed Abu Bakar in Kupang, Kedah.  After I got my PMR result excellently I transferred to SMK Baling and I got an offer to further my studies to SBPI Kubang Pasu in Science Arabic stream. But then I really couldn't catch up what have been taught especially in Additional Mathematics, Chemistry and Arabic language. So I moved out to SMK Syed Abu Bakar again.

Once I got my SPM result in 2010, yeah...with quite flying colours, I did apply for TESL foundation at UIA but unfortunately I didn't make it. But I did receive offers from matriculation and Diploma in Computer Science at UTM Jalan Semarak. I refused to go there. I made up my mind to further my studies in form six and sat for STPM in 2011. Right after I got result for STPM, I did apply for degree in TESL at UPM as the first choice and praised be to Allah, I got the offer to be one of the members in family of UPM TESL Spartans!
